How to integrate a 360° Panorama with A-Frame into a Blogger post

Bild
This is a follow up of my last post "Panorama of old vase in VR" . The team from Klassik Stiftung Weimar asked me if it is possible to view the panorama directly into the blog without the link to google photos. My first answer was no, but then I started to research. I liked the idea to be a little bit more independent from Google. Google stopped the support of the Daydream last year and there will be no new smartphone with Daydream support. That means I will need to find other VR glasses if my smartphone will ever stop working. The good news is, I found A-Frame , an open-source web framework for building virtual reality (VR) experiences. A-Frame supports most VR headsets such as Vive, Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, Daydream, GearVR, Cardboard, Oculus Go, and can even be used for augmented reality. I found this very simple example to convert an equirectangular panorama to a 360° VR panorama. I just needed to add this eight line to the post and voila it's done. &

Panorama of old vase in VR

I found an nice blog post "Alte Vase im neuen Gewand " from the Klassik Stiftung Weimar (Classical Foundation Weimar) : Crater shape vase with panorama of "Potsdam from the sight of Babelsberge", Bild: Klassik Stiftung Weimar In this blog post they describe how they use VR glasses to view an old vase. I think the use of virtual reality glasses for knowledge transfer in general and in museums in particular is a very good idea. However, the implementation in this case cannot use the advantages of virtual reality glasses to the full extent. Not the viewing of objects in 3D is the big advantage of VR glasses, but the immersion into other worlds. To illustrate this, I have taken the photographic roll of the panorama, which they have kindly provided, and edited it so that it has become a 360° panorama into which you can immerse yourself with VR glasses. VR Image Collection

Here I collect all my VR images I created to show an overview. Die headlines are links to the longer blog articles. I use Goggle Photos media viewer in the Daydream app . An nice alternative Android app to view panoramas is the VR Media Player - 360° Viewer. The Earth in VR Inside out.

Bild
This experiment was about projecting the earth inside a hollow sphere and then viewing it with my Daydream. I simply added the metadata with exiftool . You can view it with you browser too. But that is only half the fun. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipM_BCvyzoa8Y8F00Q66dpXqwwx7f6GDrmBiSBUv

"Hand with Reflecting Sphere" from M. C. Escher in VR

Bild
This time I stumbled across the picture "Hand with Reflecting Sphere" of M. C. Escher . Again I used more or less the steps from this tutorial: https://dablogter.blogspot.com/2019/05/tutorial-dresden-1824-inside-image-from.html 1. I removed the background with GIMP and cut out the Sphere: 2. I let hugin use his magic to create a Equirectangular panorama out of it: 3. I uploaded it to Google Photos to make it possible to view it in the browser or with my Daydream: Here the link to view the panorama with the Daydream: https://photos.app.goo.gl/dDkKrdtuBav9eDqe9 An nice alternative Android app to view panoramas is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xojot.vrplayer
