QGIS 3D MAP mit offenen Daten

Bild

Dephth Maps - Startups - Update 1

Bild
Today I'd like to present three European startups. They all try to create depth maps with different technologies. Blickfeld with LiDAR https://www.blickfeld.com/products/ Blickfeld is developing a solid state LiDAR. This is not made for adding depth maps to photos, but I can imagine an LiDAR mounted on a camera like a flash. Update 1: Apples new iPhone has an integrated LiDAR sensor. Point cloud created with a LiDAR: Image captured with the iPhone 12 LiDAR scanner. Image used courtesy of Apple   K|Lens with a kaleidoscope inside a lens https://www.k-lens.de/en/home K|Lens is developing an objective that can be used by every full format camera. The nice thing with this solution is, that you only need one shot. The bad thing is, that your resolution will be reduced. In the worst case your image will have 1/9 of you sensor size. K|Lens is working on a solution to get 2/3 of the original resolution. Depth map from a K|Lens shot: Wooptix with a very fast liquid lens https://woop...

"Hand with Reflecting Sphere" from M. C. Escher in VR

Bild
This time I stumbled across the picture "Hand with Reflecting Sphere" of M. C. Escher . Again I used more or less the steps from this tutorial: https://dablogter.blogspot.com/2019/05/tutorial-dresden-1824-inside-image-from.html 1. I removed the background with GIMP and cut out the Sphere: 2. I let hugin use his magic to create a Equirectangular panorama out of it: 3. I uploaded it to Google Photos to make it possible to view it in the browser or with my Daydream: Here the link to view the panorama with the Daydream: https://photos.app.goo.gl/dDkKrdtuBav9eDqe9 An nice alternative Android app to view panoramas is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xojot.vrplayer

Update: Dresden 1824 - A 195 Year old image as 3D Wireframe in VR

Bild
In the last post I converted an 195 year old image from Carl August Richter into an version that can be viewed with an VR headset. Now I found an older version of this image. I cleaned it up and changed the colours and than made the same then in the last tutorial. And now we are able to view this more then 195 year old image in 3D wireframe style with a VR headset. https://photos.app.goo.gl/jGhWqyXwtNXPZeNo9

Isle of Mull

Bild
I've created a isometric like image of the Isle of Mull in Scotland with GIMP, G'mic and Inkscape for a photo book: I used Gimp 2.9.9 with the new HGT file import and the height maps from the NASA. You can read more about it here: https://dablogter.blogspot.de/2018/01/gimp-now-supports-hgt-file-format.html G'mics 3D elevation plugin: Water texture from here: https://www.roblox.com/library/31952856/Water-Texture-FREE The land colours are from a blurred screenshot from Google Earth. Inkscape for the markers: The sun is the standard "Sparks" brush from GIMP. Cloud and bird brushes from https://www.deviantart.com https://para-vine.deviantart.com/art/Cloud-Brushes-152820554 https://wingsofahero.deviantart.com/art/Bird-Brushes-119021426 https://wingsofahero.deviantart.com/art/Flying-Bird-Brushes-116541763 And a lot of fine tuning in GIMP, here is a screenshot of the layers dialogue:

Low polygon 3D Europe map UPDATE 2

Bild
As the "Low polygon 3D Europe map" tutorial is on of the most read posts I have some more information for you.   1. Here you can download a complete land topography of the world as a digital image of the three-dimensional structure of the Earth's surface: http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view.php?id=73934  2. The link to "Open Digital Elevation Model (OpenDEM)". You can use this data to create an similar image. (I haven't done this. It looks like a lot of work.) http://www.opendem.info/index.html 3. Somegeneral information about Digital elevation models: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_elevation_model The two older post in this series:  Low polygon 3D Europe map Low polygon 3D europe map UPDATE

Low polygon 3D europe map UPDATE

Here come the promised update. I've added text and the flight routs to the image: This time I'd like to thank the authors of this two YouTube videos to help me with Blender.    1. Text in Blender    2. Curves in Blender

Low polygon 3D europe map

Bild
Hello my latest little project is a 3D low polygon map. I used Blender and Gimp to create this map: I've started with an elevation map of Europe I found on the website from "The European Environment Agency" (EEA). Thank you EU for this image: http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/figures/elevation-map-of-europe Then I had to cut of the black border with Gimp and created a second image as height map: For this step I converted the image to black and white and then used the curve tool to make the mountains darker. This will make the mountains in the final image higher and easier to discover. Then I used this tutorial to create the 3D image in Blender: http://johnflower.org/tutorial/make-mountains-blender-height-maps But I didn't  subdivide in as many parts than the tutorial ans I haven't smoothed, because I wanted a low polygon look of my image and not a realistic one. After this step I gave the plane the original colour image as textur...
